Can we talk about snacks?
A lot of commercially made snacks just aren’t that healthy. I basically wouldn’t recommend any of them for every day use. Sure, some snacks are better than others — and these are the ones I recommend for packing on an airplane or road trip — but for the most part, homemade wins.
Here’s the problem with most snack foods: they may be marketed as “whole grain” or “high protein,” but when you start looking at the ingredient list, you might see a whole lot of ingredients that are either unrecognizable as real food, or are downright unhealthy (additives, gums, starches, “natural” flavorings, high tech sweeteners, etc.).
So here’s what I recommend: try making these energy bites. They’re really simple — no baking required! And they’re super family-friendly — I mean, who doesn’t love chocolate chips and almond butter?
