The Miami Heat locker room was somber before Wednesday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers in the wake of the shooting earlier in the day at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.
“I’d like to just say our thoughts and prayers to all the students and families and teachers, everybody in Parkland that’s suffering from just an incredibly tragic and absolutely senseless act,” coach Erik Spoelstra said before taking basketball questions. “It’s horrifying, as we’re finding more information about it.
“I just want them to know we’re thinking about them. It makes this game feel totally insignificant. And it’s just mind-boggling.”
Heat guard Dwyane Wade, whose children attend school in Broward County, said it hit home as a parent.
